Fairmont Hotels & Resorts

Fairmont's story began in 1886 when Canadian Pacific Railway magnate William Cornelius Van Horne founded Mount Stephen House, followed by landmark properties such as Banff Springs (1888) and Château Lake Louise (1890). In 1907, sisters Tessie and Virginia Fair opened the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, giving the brand its name.
