Intercontinental
It was a memorable date. On 4 April 1946 Pan American World Airways launched their international hotel brand: InterContinental Hotels. First opening in Belém, Brazil, InterContinental then extended a trailblazing portfolio across the world. It became a byword for luxury travel to a jet-set generation, with an impressive guest list from Louis Armstrong to Princess Grace.
The world's first luxury hotel brand
Today InterContinental spans more than 240 hotels in over 60 countries, and remains the world's first and largest luxury hotel brand. Each property offers its own distinctive style, from heritage elegance to urban chic and resorts on tropical shores, with icons such as the InterContinental Carlton Cannes among them.
Part of IHG
InterContinental is the founding luxury brand of IHG Hotels & Resorts, whose portfolio of 21 brands spans more than 6,900 hotels across over a hundred countries.
