The Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida began in 1983 as a small department, and today occupies a purpose built, 159,000 square foot campus in the heart of Orlando's hospitality and tourism corridor, the largest facility ever constructed specifically for hospitality management education.
Built through genuine local philanthropy
The college's transformation began when Orlando hotelier Harris Rosen donated ten million dollars in cash and twenty five acres of land in 2000, a gift that eventually grew into an eighteen million dollar foundation for the new campus that opened in January 2004. Rosen's involvement extended well beyond funding: he personally told founding faculty he would one day build them a new school, and delivered exactly that.
