Amrath Hotels

Amrâth Hôtels was built by the van Eijl family, who began acquiring hotel properties in the Netherlands in the late 1980s after Giovanni van Eijl left a career in advertising. The acquisition of Hotel de l'Empereur in Maastricht in 1997 laid the foundations for the chain, and the Amrâth name, taken from the family's French maiden-name heritage, was applied across all properties in 2000.

Historic buildings, individual character

Many Amrâth hotels occupy landmark buildings with their own architectural history. Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam, for example, is housed in the monumental Scheepvaarthuis, an icon of the Amsterdam School and once headquarters to six Amsterdam shipping companies.

A national collection

Amrâth Hôtels today comprises a dozen three-, four- and five-star hotels across the Netherlands, from Maastricht to Alkmaar, each retaining its own distinctive character within a shared standard of ambiance, refinement and elegance, L'Esprit Amrâth.
